One Response to “A Snowboarding Life”

For years I have been told, “You can’t judge a book by its cover.” Well, after reading ‘A Snowboarding Life’ I know this statement rings true. The cover is epic, the content is anything but.

The book reads like an adolescent romance novel, full of ridiculous scenarios and half-hearted emotion that are directed at anything over than the art of snowboarding. For those of us who are truly in love with the sport, the mountain isn’t about finding a mate..the only love we need is pow. For over half the book, the author neglects to even discuss snowboarding itself. There are no visuals, no “I wish I was there” moments. As I was reading it, I actually felt stupider by the moment for doing so. I don’t necessarily want to knock the author for writing this book, only for marketing it as “The greatest snowboarding novel ever written,” as was stated in an ad in Transworld Snowboarding. If you want to read a good snowboarding book that speaks to the true art of boarding, you might try ‘Snowboarding to Nirvana.’ At least it addressed the real issue…that is, snowboarding.
